I am a Marriage and Family Therapist with a diverse background. I have worked with children and families, adolescents, and adults with substance abuse challenges. I believe that healing happens when clients are invited to collaborate with therapists in creating a new relational experience. Taking the first step in seeking help is difficult, but once you do, the path of healing begins.
How do I schedule an appointment?
I currently see clients at Greater New Haven Counseling and Family Therapy located at 1844 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT 06517. In order to schedule an appointment, please call 203-407-1310. Most insurances are accepted. I see individuals, families, couples, and children.
What is your therapeutic model?
I believe in the power of solution-focused therapy, infused with experiential techniques and structural interventions. I create an inviting, warm, and supportive environment in the therapy room where clients have the opportunity to explore their own power within relationships. I believe that individuals are capable of living full lives where they can express themselves openly and freely in their relationships with family, loved ones, co-workers, friends, and others.
Where were you trained?
I was trained at Southern Connecticut State University with an emphasis on Gestalt techniques and intensive self-of-the-therapist work. My personal philosophy on change involves using myself as a tool in the therapy room, dissolving preconceived notions about what “therapy should/shouldn’t be,” and building a strong client therapeutic relationship where the client is actively involved in their own treatment. I believe that we are all humans doing the best that we can and that therapy shouldn’t be shamed, feared, or stigmatized, but rather supported, encouraged, and admired.
