Let’s get our children practicing meditation from a young age. The benefits of meditation are endless. All it takes is twenty minutes a day to experience all of the fruitful benefits of meditation.
Seriously, just Google: ‘benefits of meditation’ and you’ll see. Here are just a few:
1. Meditation decreases pain. Studies, for example, have shown that meditation is linked to cortical thickness, which can result in decreased sensitivity to pain. Read: Increased pain tolerance.
2. Meditation decreases anxiety. It is often recommended as a self-help strategy for youth experiencing anxiety.
3. Meditation improves attention.
4. Meditation increases empathy.
There are several ways that you can make meditation fun for kids. One example is making a “Mind Jar” for them to focus on. Get a mason Jar, fill with glitter/gel and instruct youth to focus on Mind Jar.
